The Performance
The exhibition is to be launched with a performance based in Liverpool Central Library where the statue will be housed -
Introduction
Liverpool John Moores University has been working alongside The Royal British Legion throughout Summer and Autumn 2025 to highlight the immense contribution, service and sacrifice of the pre-partition Indian Army across World War 2.
To support the project, both staff and students have been invested in the research, development and delivery of an exhibition event in Liverpool, which launches and showcases a unique sculpture that encapsulates the pre-partition Indian Army involvement in World War 2, across all theatres and fronts (Africa, Far East, Mainland Europe etc).
The sculpture will also tour across the uk in order to:
• Raise awareness of the role of the Indian Army in WW2
• Explore familial and community connections to military service
• Discuss the issues of belonging, shared heritage and the modern role of Remembrance across the UK
